"What is in it for me?" This is a great question you should ask yourself very often! My answer would be simple,  A  finance director will add value to your business by helping you increase your sales, profits and  positive cash flows, reduce the risks and stresses that you have in business by implementing proven financial management systems.By monitoring the key business numbers and interpreting the regular reports you will be able to predict your businesses success. You can have all this without the need to employ a "full time ,employed" and very expensive Senior Accountant. Full time I believe is a misnomer. 52 weeks less holidays, the odd sick leave,  maternity and paternity leave, learning curve period, and the time getting involved in things that fill in the time but detract from the important tasks . That 12 month period's salary plus health insurance both state and private, pension contributions, company car etc make the cost per productive day very expensive. One final plus for a " rented" Finance Director is that if you want to end the relationship  you just say  "Goodbye and thanks". Saying "goodbye" to an employee is another different matter ! Notice period, redundancy, employment tribunal? Oh and the acquisition cost of a rented VP Finance is equally competitive , a telephone call , an e mail, and a face to face discussion. An employee if recruited through an agency can be a very expensive exercise in both cash and management time!
